In Japanese legend, the rabbit lives on the moon, pounding mochi in offering to all who look up at the night sky. This handmade rabbit is sewn from shibori-dyed cotton with a fluid, organic resist pattern in deep indigo and white, the two colours blending at their edges in the way characteristic of the technique. Dressed in a red cotton haori jacket and holding a mochi of natural mother-of-pearl.
