Decorative Bird Workshop | 5 -10 years | Sunday, 16 Aug | 10 am - 10:45 am
Join us for a joyful painting workshop where children bring their own decorative bird to life, filled with pattern, colour and imaginative detail.
Working with paint and colour, children will design a bird of their own, exploring shape, pattern and mark-making as they fill its feathers, wings and body with flowers, dots, stripes and playful motifs inspired by folk art traditions. Along the way, they will build confidence with colour mixing, composition and paintbrush control, all while telling their own visual story.
This workshop is a wonderful way for children to slow down, focus, and enjoy the simple pleasure of creating something colourful and entirely their own. No previous experience is needed, every bird will be different, and every child will leave with a finished artwork to be proud of.
Suitable for children aged 5 to 10. All materials provided.

About the tutor
Rebecca Austin is a local artist with a Bachelor of Fine Art from Griffith University, where she majored in printmaking and drawing.
Alongside her art practice, Rebecca works as an early childhood educator and brings a thoughtful, supportive approach to teaching. She is passionate about helping both children and adults develop creative skills and confidence.
Rebecca believes that everyone can be creative and encourages each student to reconnect with their sense of play and curiosity through art.
