Inner Balance

Solo Exhibition by Ksenia Kirkbride

Inner Balance presents a contemplative body of work by Ksenia Kirkbride, where symbolism becomes a language for exploring the delicate equilibrium between opposing forces within the human experience. Drawing from mythology, religious traditions, and philosophical thought, the artist reflects on the unity that underlies diverse spiritual narratives across cultures and time.

Through evocative imagery, Ksenia Kirkbride navigates dualities - light and darkness, masculine and feminine, material and metaphysical - revealing them not as contradictions, but as interdependent elements of a greater whole. Her works invite the viewer into a meditative space where personal memory, archetypal symbolism, and collective consciousness intersect.

In this exhibition, balance is not presented as a fixed state, but as a continuous inner process - an act of reconciliation, transformation, and self-awareness. Inner Balance becomes both a visual and emotional journey, encouraging a deeper reflection on harmony within oneself and connection to the universal rhythms that shape human existence.

About the Artist

Ksenia Kirkbride

Ksenia Kirkbride is a Sydney-based contemporary artist whose practice explores human experience through symbolism, personal memory and cultural narratives. Born in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, in 1981, she developed an early connection to making through her father, who introduced her to a wide range of artisanal skills. Her first creative role was as a doll artist at a local theatre.

After moving to Australia, Kirkbride studied at the National Art School in Sydney, where she developed the distinctive visual language that continues to shape her practice today. Her work draws on mythology, spiritual traditions and archetypal imagery, reflecting her interest in the shared ideas that connect people across cultures and individual experience.

Kirkbride’s work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Australia and is held in private collections in Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States and Russia. In 2024, she received the Pyrmont Art Prize People’s Choice Award.
