Creative Room Art Space presents Moments, a solo exhibition by Brisbane-based contemporary artist Andrew K.
Working in oil and charcoal, Andrew K confronts the intensity of lived experience with directness and raw emotional clarity. His distinctive technique, bold brushwork with charcoal etched into wet oil paint, embraces imperfection and movement as a form of reality. Grounded in empathy and personal resonance, his practice explores belonging, human connection, environmental fragility, and the unequal weight society places on those who dare to exist without apology.
Moments spans the full breadth of his world: the vast landscapes of rural Australia, the light and life of Paris, and figures caught in the quiet and not so quiet struggles of being human. Each work is rooted in something lived, something felt, something worth holding onto.
A moment can define us. A moment can change us. Some we simply never forget.
Landscapes
These are paintings of my experiences and travels in Australia where I worked in agriculture. They are a tribute to the light and color of Australia - the land, the greens of our unique flora and the ever-changing sky. Cattle are one of my favourite animals.
Figurative
Golden Nude
This series is about breaking free, about living without restriction and restraint. It is about being unapologetic.
The Victor
The red tape is a metaphor for the layered constraints imposed by society on women. These strands evoke not only bureaucratic and legal entanglements but also the insidious weight of sexist tropes and cultural attitudes that seek to diminish and obstruct.
She is not vulnerable, she will not be silenced, she is defiant, she is seen. Her existence is a statement. He is blind, but won't be for long. He will stand up. He will be an ally.

Self-taught and deeply intuitive, his practice is driven by a need to process the world’s complexities, exploring themes of belonging, inequality, environmental fragility, and human connection. Andrew’s work is grounded in empathy and personal resonance. His distinctive technique, marked by bold brushwork and charcoal etched into wet oil paint, embraces imperfection and movement as a
form of reality.
Born in Tasmania, Andrew continues to build his artistic legacy from his studio in Brisbane. His work can be found in private collections in Australia and internationally.
Influenced by both classical masters and the creative community around him.
With a background in agriculture, science, and health and safety management,
his multidisciplinary perspective and life experience informs a practice that is both visceral and reflective.
