Domesticidad: Artist Talk by Monique Baqués

Developed over several years, the exhibition grew from Monique’s repeated return to the image of the house and its relationship with the female body. During the talk, she will discuss how this form evolved through painting, collage, drawing, embroidery and mixed media, and how everyday domestic materials became part of the work.

Monique will also speak about her own experience of living across six countries and four continents, and how ideas of home, migration, belonging and displacement have shaped the series. The conversation will move through some of the central questions in Domesticidad: when does shelter become confinement, how do care and sacrifice overlap, and how do the homes we build begin to shape us in return?

The talk will offer a closer look at Monique’s process, materials and recurring imagery, followed by an opportunity for questions and conversation.
