Worn and Wild with Jane Ju: Jewellery, Fashion and Sustainability | Artist Talk with Evgeniya Lisichkina

30/5/2026

On Saturday, 30 May at 12:00 pm, jeweller and fashion insider Evgeniya Lisichkina opens up about the industry she knows best. Worn and Wild is a rare chance to hear a working jeweller and former fashion journalist speak honestly about creativity, commerce, and why adornment matters.

On the agenda:
  • Is fashion truly important, or merely entertainment?
  • Australian Fashion Week: Australian fashion and its place in the global industry.
  • Trends and brands: how trends are really born and what lies behind them.
  • Jewellery: the most expensive wearable object in the world. Why?
  • Jewellery trends and forecasts.
  • Styling with jewellery: tips and tricks.

Evgeniya Lisichkina is the designer behind Jane Ju, Sydney's organic and sustainable jewellery brand, and the jeweller behind the Amazon series The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart. She knows this world inside out, and she is here to share it.

Free to attend, with drinks and light refreshments on arrival.

The talk takes place during the opening weekend of Garden of Eve, Jane Ju's new collection at Creative Room Art Space, where all works are available for purchase.

Creative Room Art Space is delighted to present Garden of Eve, a new jewellery collection by Jane Ju.

Precious, intuitive, unpredictable. Garden of Eve is a metaphor for a woman's inner world, her capacity to create, to imagine, to desire. A place where curiosity leads, fantasy and reality fuse, and tenderness exists alongside danger.
Earthly flowers grow next to ethereal ones. Delicate silver leaves embrace freeform gemstones. Clusters of amethysts bloom into hydrangeas. Baroque pearls shaped like angels' wings. Black diamonds set into Akoya pearls. Forbidden fruits and pearls of inner knowledge, fragments of a larger story of womanhood and its shared psyche.

In the artist's words: "For me, Garden of Eve is Australia itself. With its intensity and wild beauty, with its contradictions, and its resilience. A place shaped by fire and flood, by destruction and regeneration. I found them, the flowers which were lost, all here, in a beautiful inner refuge."

All works are available for purchase throughout the weekend.

Date: Friday, 29 May 2026
Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Botanical Meditations: Guided Art Experience with the Artist

24/5/2026

Step into a contemplative space with Oxana Arefin, where art becomes ritual.

Botanical Meditations is not simply an exhibition of paintings. It is a living, sensory experience of reflection, symbolism and inner discovery. Surrounded by paintings of plants rendered in luminous blue-green and pastel tones, visitors enter an atmosphere of quiet immersion, accompanied by meditative music and the subtle presence of nature.

Each painting is devoted to a single plant, a botanical presence carrying its own mythology, healing associations, cultural memory and symbolic intelligence. Aloe Vera, Guava, Frangipani, Silky Oak, Jacaranda, each holds stories that have moved through civilisations and the human psyche for centuries.

Upon entering, each guest receives, by chance, a written meditation dedicated to one of these plants. This encounter is intentional: like a metaphorical or oracle card, the plant “chooses” the viewer. What appears accidental often feels deeply personal. The text becomes a key, the painting a mirror.

As participants move through the exhibition, they seek the work connected to their meditation, then spend time in stillness, reading, contemplating, absorbing. The experience unfolds as a gentle dialogue between image, symbol and subconscious response.

Inspired in part by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, the restorative act of immersing oneself in the living atmosphere of trees, Botanical Meditations offers a contemporary, poetic equivalent through painting. These works invite a slowing of thought, a return to breath, and an opening of intuition.

Each painting acts as a visual sanctuary.

Each meditation, a quiet invocation.
The experience lingers beyond the gallery.

These paintings suggest something radical in its simplicity: contemplation as nourishment.

A symbolic encounter.
A meditation that finds you.

Beyond the exhibition
These works are not confined to the gallery space. They carry a quiet presence into the home, extending the experience into daily life through moments of stillness, reflection and subtle connection with the natural world.

Botanical Meditations invites viewers not merely to look at art, but to enter it, and through it, perhaps encounter something waiting quietly within themselves.

Creative Room Art Space invites you to the opening of our new solo exhibition, Botanical Meditation by Oxana Arefin.

A psychologist and visual artist, Oxana Arefin creates layered, contemplative paintings that move between inner landscape and observed nature. After moving to Queensland, she became captivated by local flora, including eucalyptus leaves, jacaranda blossoms, native grasses and flowers, which now act as both daily companions and quiet guides.

In Botanical Meditation, botanical forms appear from translucent blue grounds that suggest breath, stillness and a meditative state. Rather than traditional botanical illustration, these works function as visual meditations, with slow, textured surfaces that invite viewers to pause, feel and listen. The series is inspired by the idea of forest bathing, treating painting as an immersion in nature through presence and touch rather than distant observation.

Join us for an afternoon of art and conversation with the artist as we continue our 2026 exhibition program in West End.

Creative Room Art Space invites you to the closing evening of Inner Balance, a solo exhibition by Sydney-based artist Ksenia Kirkbride. This special evening is dedicated to Mother's Day and brings together a lecture, a curatorial talk, and the opportunity to spend time with the works before the exhibition closes.

Good Mother, Bad Mother: A Lecture on Louise Bourgeois
The evening opens with a short lecture exploring the theme of motherhood in the work of Louise Bourgeois, one of the most significant artists of the twentieth century. Bourgeois returned to the subject of motherhood throughout her life and career, transforming it into some of the most powerful and complex works in contemporary art history. The lecture examines how she held together tenderness and ambivalence, protection and entrapment, love and grief, in a body of work that continues to resonate deeply.

Curatorial Talk: Inner Balance
The lecture will be followed by a curatorial talk offering deeper insight into the concepts behind Inner Balance. Ksenia Kirkbride's exhibition draws on mythology, spiritual iconography, and philosophical thought to explore the inner life of a woman in search of meaning and equilibrium. The talk will touch on key works in the exhibition and the ideas that connect them.

Drinks and refreshments will be served. All works in the exhibition are available for acquisition.
